I work for a Napa parts store and me and one of the other employees are having a debate on what the difference is between remanufactured and Rebuilt Parts. I said that in a remaned part they replace everything but the core to bring it back to OE specs and the rebuilt just means that the parts that were faulty are replaced.  He says that he took a 8hr class and they said that there is absolutly no difference between the two, they mean the same thing. I was hoping that you could settle this debate once and for all. Thanks for the help, Kevin

Both of you are right... To a certain degree. They are supposed to be the same thing, i.e., used housing, new internal parts. But you will find there are some that still only replace that which is bad to save money. A lot of times it's the independents. The practice is slowly diminishing, but I doubt it goes away completely.
