SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Federal-Mogul Motorparts has announced the latest class of 12 future automotive service professionals who will receive a combined $30,000 in scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year. The company established the scholarship program, open to qualified full- and part-time students who are studying to become professional automotive technicians, in conjunction with the launch in 2015 of the Garage Gurus technical education network. Motorparts is a division of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corp.

The 12 automotive technology students who will receive financial assistance from Federal-Mogul Motorparts during the upcoming academic year are:

  • Jacqueline Carey, Manchester, N.H., Manchester Community College
  • Jacob Crum, Columbia, Mo., Ranken Technical College

“We recognize the critical importance of attracting and supporting each new generation of automotive service professionals,” said Brent Berman, director, training and consumer experience, Federal-Mogul Motorparts. “Our scholarship program for future techs complements the comprehensive Garage Gurus technical education platform available to current technicians, shop owners and other industry professionals in major markets across North America.”

“Winning (the scholarship) gives me an opportunity to finish college, where I might not have been able to afford it before,” said Jacqueline Cary, whose career goals include owning and operating a vehicle service business that will cater to the needs of female motorists.

Christian Wilson, who has worked at a small shop while attending Florida’s Seminole State College, said the Federal-Mogul Motorparts scholarship “takes a huge weight off my shoulders.  My boss’s wife told me about the program and I think my hard work and success really helped me win.”

Tuition assistance will help scholarship recipient Evan Randazzo set aside funds for another important career investment – purchasing tools. “That will help me be more prepared for when I graduate and am ready to enter the workplace,” he said.
