Large Performance Gains In Exide’s New Start-Stop Batteries

Exide will launch its new light vehicle battery range at the Automechanika trade fair in Frankfurt this September.

GENNEVILLIERS, France – Exide Technologies is reporting that large performance gains will be seen in the company’s new range of Start-Stop batteries. According to Exide, the new AGM battery will achieve four times longer cycle life, 20 percent more power and more than three times the charge acceptance of a standard conventional battery. Similar gains also will be seen in Exide’s new EFB battery, the company says.

Start-Stop vehicles already constitute 15 percent of the car parc, and this is expected to reach 50 percent within the next five years, according to Exide’s research. Only specially designed batteries can be used in Start-Stop vehicles.

Cars with conventional powertrains can be fitted with AGM and EFB batteries to improve performance and reduce long-term costs, which can be useful for special vehicles like ambulances and police cars, cars with power-hungry electrical equipment and scenarios where the battery is exposed to extreme driving conditions.

Exide will launch its new light vehicle battery range at the Automechanika trade fair in Frankfurt this September. The battery giant will appear at F10 in Hall 3.1, and will reveal the latest AGM and EFB batteries for the first time.
