HAMBURG, Germany — The Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG presents a completely revised selection of water pumps. They include six newly developed MEYLE-HD water pumps for various VAG models.

They bear the seal “Made in Germany” and have been improved so much that they offer far more than the usual standard of quality to be found on the free market for spare parts, the company says. They have a mechanical seal which – by contrast with parts from the original manufacturer – is perfectly attuned to the demands faced by used vehicles, according to the company. Repair shops can give their customers a four-year warranty on the MEYLE-HD water pumps and at the same time they can rule out repeat repairs.

A broken water pump can quickly do a lot of damage. This is therefore a subject for garages which often leads to dissatisfied customers. The engineers at Wulf Gaertner Autoparts have therefore redesigned their range of water pumps. The manufacturer from Hamburg is now offering water pumps with SiC/SiC technology. All the products are now available with a new high-quality material design for the mechanical seal.

“Due to high demand from garages, we have applied our HD philosophy of improving on parts to water pumps, too,” explains Sven Nielsen, technology manager at Wulf Gaertner Autoparts. As the sealing ring especially plays a big part in the durability of a water pump, Wulf Gaertner Autoparts is using silicon carbide/silicon carbide seal faces (SiC/SiC) as well as a high-quality water pump bearing in OEM quality for its new MEYLE-HD water pumps. “This combination is primarily designed for the stresses in used vehicles in which the cooling system already shows signs of wear and corrosion, and where the cooling agent may also be contaminated”, says Nielsen.

The mechanical seal with the silicon carbide/silicon carbide face seals is significantly more resistant to abrasive substances such as dirt and various cooling agent additives. The secondary seal consists of peroxide-cured HNBR which has very high resistance to temperature and weathering. Thanks to these product characteristics, permanently high operating temperatures of up to 130°C have no effect on the water pumps.

With the six new MEYLE-HD water pumps which will all be available from January 2015, Wulf Gaertner Autoparts now covers the following VAG models among others:

•113 220 0018/HD (suitable for VW diesel engines 1.9-2.0 TDI)

•113 012 0042/HD (suitable for VW diesel engines 2.5 TDI

•113 220 0005/HD (suitable for VW diesel engines 2.5 TDI)

•113 012 0033/HD (suitable for VW petrol engines 1.6i | 1.8i | 2.0i)

•113 220 0023/HD (suitable for VW petrol engines 1.8 TSI | 2.0 TSI)

•113 220 0011/HD (suitable for VW petrol engines 2.0 TFSI)

As for all MEYLE-HD parts, Wulf Gaertner Autoparts also gives a four-year warranty on the new MEYLE-HD water pumps.

Customer Service: How It’s Done

Customer service should be your number one priority, and it all starts with the greeting.

This is always an important topic to discuss, because I consider excellent customer service one of the most important tools you can have to earn trust, respect and repeat business from the customers that come through your door. Whether that customer is do-it-yourselfer from across town or the professional repair shop across the street, your business depends on a solid relationship. It’s a subject that I am passionate about, and it’s one that many people are losing touch with. Whether you are communicating to someone in person, on the phone or using some type of social media, good customer service and bad can both exist. You can’t afford the latter, so this is the first in a series of topics which can and should be shared from the front of the shop to the back. No matter which role you hold, you represent the shop and yourself. Customer service should be your number one priority.First on the list is the greeting. From the second a customer walks in the door, they need to know you appreciate them coming in and how important they are to your business. First impressions are everything and here’s the correct way to do it each and every time: look them directly in the eye, smile and say hello!Of course, you can say “Good morning” or “Welcome to Joe’s Autocare,” but it should be a formal greeting and the most important thing is that you have smiled, looked them in the eye and recognized that they have walked through the door. You should always retain a formal greeting until you are on a first-name basis with a customer. Only once you have established that level of relationship is it OK to use the less formal greeting of “Hi,” followed by the person’s name. This greeting does more than just indicate respect and appreciation for someone walking through the door. Most likely there are customers both new and old who are in earshot of your conversation. For newer customers, this continues to build rapport and reinforce their positive view of your shop; they see that you demonstrate respect and treat everyone in the same manner. For repeat customers, even ones that have been coming for years, the greeting is important because the way you treat them is the reason they continue to come. And when a long-time customer comes in and you greet them with “Hi [First Name],” this indicates your appreciation for them and that you’re glad to see them as a person, more than just a customer. New customers that witness this will see that your repeat customers are comfortable enough to be on a first-name basis, another indication of the trust they have in you.
