The fourth edition of the Chengdu International Trade Fair for Automotive Parts and Aftermarket Services (CAPAS) is scheduled to take place from May 25-27, 2017, at the Chengdu Century City New International Exhibition & Convention Center, China. Jointly organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Automotive Sub-Council (CCPIT-Auto), Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Sichuan Council (CCPIT-Sichuan). The fair is expected to house more than 750 international exhibitors and welcome more than 18,000 visitors and buyers from around the globe.

The automotive industry in Sichuan and its capital city Chengdu have been growing rapidly for over a decade. According to the Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Commission in Chengdu, 650,000 units of vehicles were manufactured in the first eight months of 2016 and the number is estimated to hit 1.1 million units by the end of the year. The total output value of the automobile industry is estimated to be RMB 200 billion with a growth rate of over 10 percent for the entire industry. As the consumption market of automobiles in China is transforming from the East towards the West, Chengdu, a city located in the heart of the Southwestern region, is playing a strategic role in the automotive industry.

Fiona Chiew, deputy general manager of Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd is happy to witness CAPAS’ accomplishments in the region: “CAPAS has generated tremendous responses in the last three editions and has become one of the leading platforms for the automotive industry in Southwest China. Moving towards its fourth edition, CAPAS continues to play a role in supporting the growing community by offering a platform for industry players to expand their business networks and exchange the latest industrial innovations.”

The fourth edition introduces six brand new specialized zones

The 2017 edition of the fair will be featured in six brand new specialized zones, occupying an exhibition space of 35,000 square meters at the Chengdu Century City New International Exhibition & Convention Center. With the sector-oriented structure, industry players will benefit from a highly efficient procurement platform, centralised information channels, as well as diverse industrial insight sharing.

The six specialized zones are:

Supply Chain Procurement Zone

The zone provides high-quality business matchmaking services to exhibitors and buyer delegations. CAPAS has been striving to improve the supply chain efficiency of original auto parts and the aftermarket in the region. The matching service provided in the zone will accelerate procurement efficiency and enhance the buying experience.

Automobile Lifestyle Zone

The zone presents automobile lifestyle by showcasing a full array of products in auto beauty, smart car digital devices, interior décor and auto customization. Occupying the entire hall, the zone allows visitors to experience the trendiest automobile lifestyle from interactive activities and gives exhibitors and buyers a professional environment to discuss business deals.

Quick Fix & Replacement Parts Zone

As named, the zone gathers quick fix service providers and replacement parts, including branded quick repair chain stores, equipment, tools,  replacement parts (such as oil, fuel and air filters, wiper blades, brake pads, ignition plugs and storage batteries) and tires, to a single floor. It introduces comprehensive business interactions to players from the repair end market and creates an integrated buying platform for them.

Commercial Vehicle Zone

Doubling the size from the last edition, the zone features more well-known commercial vehicles manufacturers and engine companies. It becomes an influential commercial vehicle trading platform in Southwest China, a series of dealer ordering sessions and regional service recruitment are arranged.

E-mobility & Infrastructure Zone

The zone features major new energy automobile brands and components manufacturers in Sichuan to showcase the latest technology innovations. A number of brands, including DONGFENG TRUCKS, FAW JIEFANG AUTOMOTIVE, FOTON DAIMLER, JAC MOTORS, SAIC-IVECO HONGYAN, SHACMAN and SINOTRUK will be launching new energy cars during the three-day exhibition.

Made in Sichuan Zone

The zone aims to strengthen the end-to-end supply chain of car manufacturing in Sichuan province. To support the government’s plan of increasing local content from 26 to 60 percent in Sichuan-assembled vehicles, components & parts suppliers are encouraged to expand their footprint in the province. The zone is their gateway to expand business networks with regional car manufacturers, share market information and generate business potentials.

Ms Chiew added: “I am delighted the 2017 edition is in better structure with six brand new zones in response to the market needs and to accommodate the fast-developing automotive industry in Southwest China. The fair with the enhanced structure will deliver an all-in-one promotion and trading platform to exhibitors and buyers from around the world, by gathering players from related sectors into each specific zone. It will significantly elevate the entire event experience and accelerate procurement efforts for all participants in the fair.”
