Arnott Air Suspension Issued Patent For ‘Improved Mount And Bearing’ For Shock Absorber

The patent covers Arnott-designed air lines which run through the upper mount and into the air spring's bladder.

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. — Arnott Inc. has announced the company was issued U.S. Patent No. 8,292,306, which relates to an improved mount and bearing height adjustable air suspension shock absorber for use with SUVs, such as the Range Rover. The patent covers Arnott-designed air lines which run through the upper mount and into the air spring’s bladder.

The new air lines have no external lines such as the nylon type used in the OE shock and are not as easily prone to failure, the company said. With the Arnott assembly, the internal air line has been machined into the head of the air spring to provide a direct passageway for compressed air to pass into and out of the airbag without using external tubes. Arnott also has added sealing O-rings which provide airtight seals between the moving members of the air spring assembly.

"As the leading innovator of air suspension replacement products, the issuance of this patent reinforces the value of Arnott’s proprietary solutions as a means to help ensure the reliability and durability of air springs and shocks," said Todd Nash, senior vice president of global sales and marketing at Arnott. "As installers grapple with the challenges associated with air suspension replacement, Arnott’s patented technology provides longer lasting air springs at significant cost savings versus the original equipment version."

Arnott designs, manufactures and sells air suspension replacement products worldwide for luxury cars and SUVs including many Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Cadillac, Range Rover, Lexus, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, and Porsche models along with motorcycle air suspension kits for several makes including Harley-Davidson. Most of Arnott’s award-winning air suspension products have a limited lifetime warranty and the company provides same day shipping for orders placed by 3:30 PM ET.
