Atlas Copco to Open New Distribution Center in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Atlas Copco will open a new 131,000-square-foot national distribution center in Charlotte, N.C., this May, for the distribution of products under the Atlas Copco, BeaconMedæs, Desoutter and Chicago Pneumatic brands.

The new distribution center will be located at the Westlake Corporate Campus in Charlotte. The new facility is forecasted to process 476,000 orders annually and an average of more than 1,000 parcels per day. The custom-fitted facility will become the central distribution point for a wide variety of compressors, medical gas equipment and industrial and vehicle service tools, as well as thousands of spare parts. The company said this increased parts capacity means the company’s customers in North America can now receive 24-hour delivery on all stocked parts.

“From this new facility our aim is to supply 100 percent of the spare parts required for the products we service in North America,” said Paul Hense, president of Atlas Copco Compressors LLC. “This investment of approximately $6 million over the next seven years shows our commitment to the North American market and especially to the Charlotte area.”

Headquarters for Atlas Copco Compressors, BeaconMedæs, Chicago Pneumatic and Desoutter’s North America, as well as the BeaconMedaes and Atlas Copco manufacturing facility, will remain in Rock Hill, S.C.
