Auto Pride Parts Specialists Win Grand Prize in Autolite ‘Reaction Time Challenge’

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. – Brothers Mike and Joe Calvitto, two parts specialists for Providence, R.I.-based Action Auto Parts, were among the grand-prize winners of an all-expenses-paid trip to the NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., as part of the Autolite “Reaction Time Challenge” promotion.

“The employees at Action Auto Parts, a company-owned location of State Automotive Warehouse – one of Auto Pride’s newest members – do a great job selling Autolite spark plugs and FRAM filters,” said Steve Tucker, vice president of Auto Pride. “This is a win-win for the Calvitto brothers and their customers, as Autolite and FRAM are high-quality brands.”

For their sales efforts, the Calvitto brothers were awarded tickets and hospitality passes to the NHRA Super Nationals event in Englishtown, N.J., where they tested their reaction time on a Top Fuel Dragster simulator. Mike’s time of .081 and Joe’s .083 were among the best of contestants nationwide, earning them a grand-prize trip to the finals.

“Even though it’s a simulator, when that Christmas Tree lights up, your adrenaline’s rushing,” said Joe Calvitto. “As soon as it hits green, you hit the gas and the simulator measures your reaction time. It’s an amazing experience being there at an NHRA event – those dragsters are so powerful that they shake the ground.”
