AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – BorgWarner announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Sevcon, a U.K.-based supplier of electrification technologies.
BorgWarner said Sevcon complements its existing capabilities in the power electronics space.
“This acquisition supports our existing strategy to supply leading technology for all types of propulsion systems: combustion, hybrid and electric,” said James Verrier, president and CEO of BorgWarner. “We look forward to welcoming Sevcon’s talented employees to BorgWarner.”
Auburn Hills, Mich.-based BorgWarner estimates that the enterprise value of the deal will be $200 million.
BorgWarner said it expects to close the deal in the fourth quarter, pending approval from Sevcon shareholders and government regulators.
