Carparts Distribution Center Acquires Motor Supply Co.

Effective April 1, the acquisition brings nine new stores and 69 additional Certified Service Centers to Carparts’ operations.

Carparts Distribution Center, an Auto Value affiliate of the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, has acquired Motor Supply Co.

Effective April 1, the acquisition brings nine new stores and 69 additional Certified Service Centers to Carparts’ operations.

“It is a great fit between the two companies,” said Stan Lewis, president of Carparts Distribution Center. “Both companies have long-term employees, great reputations in the marketplace and knowledgeable people. We look forward to combining the strengths of the companies and moving forward for the long term.”

Prior to the acquisition, the York family had owned and operated Motor Supply in Central Maine for more than 40 years. The family was a longtime valued customer of Carparts. Because of that relationship, the acquisition will be accompanied by only minimal interruptions in the product offerings, Lewis noted.

“Both companies have long histories of servicing customers with exceptional service, knowledge and support,” the Alliance said in a news release. Plaistow, New Hampshire-based Carparts services customers in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Connecticut. Motor Supply will bring in additional customers from Maine. Together, the two companies now operate 21 company stores, a satellite warehouse and a main distribution center in Plaistow, and they employ 270 people.

“The York family is excited about joining forces with Carparts and we look forward to carrying on the Motor Supply tradition of offering great customer service to the people of Maine,” said Bob York, president of the Motor Supply Co.
