LONG BEACH, Calif. DENSO Products and Services Americas Inc. has appointed David Williams manager of the strategic planning department at its facility in Long Beach, Calif. In his new position, Williams will oversee the daily operations of the strategic planning department, including the development, evaluation and continuation of the company’s sales and product strategies and key performance indicators. Williams also will collaborate with other DENSO entities to gain consensus on direction for achieving long-range goals.
DENSO announced the formation of a new aftermarket business unit for North America on Oct. 31, 2012, and completed the reorganization on April 1, 2013, when DENSO Products and Services Americas Inc. was formed. Williams’ appointment is another step toward aligning global and North American aftermarket growth plans, the company says.
Williams comes to DENSO with 15 years of management experience in the automotive industry. Most recently, he served as global business unit manager at Crane Co., Barksdale Controls Inc. Prior to his tenure at Crane, Williams served as the truck product marketing manager at Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc.
“Everyone at DENSO is excited to welcome David to our team,” said Fran Labun, vice president, sales group. “His extensive automotive and managerial experience will be a huge benefit to our company. We’re looking forward to working with David on all of our short- and long-term goals and strategies.”
John Doran, senior manager, product management group and marketing, DENSO Products and Services Americas, added, “David’s background in the auto industry will be beneficial to developing and implementing our product strategies, today and in the future. It’s great to have him on our team.”
Williams will report to Richard Shiozaki, senior vice president, DENSO Products and Services Americas.
