Elgin PRO-STOCK Brand Introduces U.S.-Manufactured One-Piece Thick-Wall Performance Push Rods

New parts offer up to 40 percent greater column strength and increased stiffness, as well as centerless ground and hard-turned ends.

ELGIN, Ill. — The Elgin PRO-STOCK brand has introduced a broad line of one-piece thick-wall performance push rods that provide up to 40 percent greater column strength and increased stiffness over conventional, 0.080-in.-wall rods, the company says. The new thick-wall push rods are produced in Elgin Industries’ state-of-the-art engineering and manufacturing facility in Elgin, Ill.

The Elgin PRO-STOCK line now includes one-piece 5/16-in.-diameter push rods featuring 0.110-in. wall thickness and 3/8-in.-diameter rods with 0.137-in. wall thickness. Available lengths range from 7.900 in. to 9.400 in. for 3/8 push rods and 6.250 in. to 8.800 in. for 5/16 push rods.

Elgin PRO-STOCK one-piece push rods are manufactured from seamless, aircraft-quality chrome-moly material, then through-hardened and black oxide coated for superior strength and durability. Each part features a centerless ground and hard-turned 0.1565-in. x 210° radius ends for the ultimate in geometric precision and wear resistance.

“These new push rods provide the greatest column strength available for today’s performance engines, enabling engine builders to target higher RPMs and increased loads,” said Rick Simko, director, sales and marketing, Elgin Industries. “Each part was designed, built, machined and heat treated within our U.S.-based operations to ensure unsurpassed quality.”

Celebrating its 95th anniversary, Elgin Industries is one of North America’s leading manufacturers of original equipment, stock-replacement and performance engine and chassis components. The company is a Tier One supplier of OE engine and chassis components to organizations such as Chrysler, Deere & Company, Ford, General Motors, Harley-Davidson, Mack, and Navistar.

Elgin has earned dozens of quality awards and has received its certificates of registration to the ISO/TS 16949:2009 Quality Management System and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System. It has received its Ford Q1 Quality Certification and is a Preferred Partner to JASPER Engines & Transmissions.

Less Is More With Cordless Work Lights

There are huge safety and efficiency benefits of LED lights for your professional automotive service and repair customers.

In the case of cordless lights, there is a lot more, starting with more light! The light comes from Light Emitting Diode, or LED, technology. When they were first invented, LEDs were a revolutionary development of electrical science, affecting virtually every aspect of our lives.

Now LED lights are everywhere, and we’re all familiar with them, even in our homes, but the automotive industry has reaped the benefits as much as, if not more than, any other industry. Just like a diode, LEDs allow current flow in only one direction. When current, or electron flow occurs, photons are released.
