Global Brake Safety Council To Rebrand As Safebraking; Mike Sucharda Named Executive Director

Following the successful re-launch of the industry portal www.safebraking.com, the Global Brake Safety Council (GBSC) announced it will rebrand as Safebraking.

Following the successful re-launch of the industry portal www.safebraking.com, the Global Brake Safety Council (GBSC) announced it will rebrand as Safebraking.

“We want to build on the early success and strength of the Safebraking site, and we intend to take advantage of this brand equity and rename the Global Brake Safety Council as Safebraking” said GBSC Chairman Scott Lambert.  “The timing with the relaunch is right for us to show that we are an independent group working on behalf of the entire brake system industry.  In order to build a coalition of like-minded professionals, we must show that Safebraking is truly an independent entity that does not favor any one company, process or product.”

An independent board of directors will be established to create a charter and operating plan.  Longtime industry executive Mike Sucharda will serve as Safebraking’s first executive director.

Mike began his successful business career in marketing with Tenneco Automotive and received an executive degree from the Wharton Business School. He was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame for his marketing successes.  Mike has worked with dozens of automotive manufacturers and suppliers in his 40+ years in the industry.

In this role, Mike will be charged with leading efforts to promote Safebraking within the market; attract and retain new board members and sponsors; and shepherd the association through the creation of the associations charter and operating agreement. “I am excited to work with the board to raise awareness of REAL issues affecting important brake technology issues and opportunities,” said Sucharda. “We will look to help improve global brake product and system quality, consistency, durability, performance, manufacturing processes and safety. By doing so, we ultimately will help increase sales of quality and safe products in the global marketplace.”
