Counterman’s “Guess the Car” contest challenges our readers to solve an automotive riddle, for a chance to win $100. And each month, we receive hundreds of responses from aftermarket professionals trying to guess the model of the vehicle depicted.

The correct answer for the October/November contest is the Nissan Armada. The winner is Roberto Bautista Sr., a parts specialist with Parts Authority in Norcross, Georgia. Now, let’s get to know the “Guess the Car” champion.

CM: How long have you been working in the auto parts business?

RB: Roughly 25 years. I’ve been with Parts Authority for a little more than two and a half years.

CM: What do you like most about your job?

RB: Just being able to help people, if I can. Being a problem-solver.

CM: What’s the strangest question a customer has asked you?

RB: I would have to say it’s, “Hey, if I buy this part, can you install it for me?” … We still get the customers who say, “OK, if I buy that alternator from you, how much do you guys charge to install it?”

CM: What’s the coolest car you’ve ever owned or worked on?

RB: I had a 1982 Toyota Supra that I bought from a family member. All it needed was a new timing belt. And those being non-interference engines, my older brother and I were like, “Hey, we can slap a timing belt on this and it’s gonna run.” In a way, it’s still my favorite car.

CM: Do you have any interesting hobbies? What do you do for fun?

RB: I used to play softball, but there’s not a league anymore where I live. Outside of that, I like watching football. I’m a huge LSU and New Orleans Saints fan.

CM: What’s your dream car?

RB: Maybe one of the last production Supras. Not the ones that are out now; I like the original ones. Or any Corvette. I always did like the Z06 and the C6R. If I had to reach back further, I’d have to say the “Smokey and the Bandit” ’78 Trans Am.
