ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Rochester, N.Y.-based parts distributor Hahn Automotive Warehouse, through its wholly owned subsidiary Prime Automotive Parts Co., has signed a definitive agreement for Hahn to acquire E&L Battery & Ignition Co., based in Newark, N.J.
 
E&L is a warehouse distributor of aftermarket automotive parts with its main warehouse location in Newark, N.J., along with eight branches. Hahn and E&L are both members of the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance. Hahn said it elected to acquire E&L based on E&L’s performance as a well-managed company with a commitment to growth and customer service in the New Jersey market.
 
Steven Blumenkranz, E&L’s president, will continue with the company following the completion of the transaction. Terms of the transaction, which is expected to close on or about April 29, were not disclosed.
 
Blumenkranz stated, “I am pleased to be joining Hahn to continue with the business of the combined Prime/E&L entity.  This combination provides significant opportunities for growth for our customers, including enhanced sales and marketing efforts.”
