Halla Visteon Climate Control CEO Recognized With Global Green Management Excellence Award

President and CEO receives prestigious award in Korea for commitment to sustainable management.

VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – YH Park, president and CEO of Halla Visteon Climate Control Corp., has received a Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at the annual Global Green Management Excellence Award event in Seoul. The event is jointly hosted by the Korean Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit recognizes the best in sustainable and environmental management. Park was recognized as an individual contributor for his leadership in establishing an eco-friendly management system and developing products at HVCC that improve fuel efficiency and are eco-friendly.

As a demonstrated leader in sustainable management, Park spearheaded the proliferation of HVCC’s global energy management system. This integrated system allows the company to closely monitor energy consumption by location and to plan energy savings initiatives in near real-time. The system has been integral in bolstering the company’s eco-friendly operating culture.

HVCC also is realizing eco-friendly and fuel-efficient product development under Park’s leadership. Examples include the zero-leak metal seal fitting that prevents refrigerant from leaking into the environment. This innovative design won the Automotive News PACE Award in 2013. Another is the centrifugal air compressor, a PACE Award finalist in 2014, which recently earned the company’s sixth IR52 Jang Young Shil Award for green technologies. This innovation supports the world’s first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle manufactured by Hyundai Motor Group by providing clean pressurized air to the fuel cell stack, which generates power to propel and operate the vehicle.

"At HVCC, we will remain committed to environmental protection through an increased focus on an eco-friendly design and waste processes, and the delivery of fuel efficient and eco-friendly thermal energy management solutions," said Park in his acceptance speech. "We believe future generations are key to our business and we must continue to focus our efforts on sustainable management."
