My son’s ’95 Nissan Maxima had an issue where the driver’s door would not close.

My son's '95 Nissan Maxima had an issue where the driver's door would not close. I am not exactly sure what i did, but now it is closed and will not open. If you pull the latch up, it snaps back and if the other doors are unlocked, they lock also. I was told it may be the door lock actuator, but I cannot open the door to find out. How do I open the door? I even took the battery cable off and that did not help.

A difficult repair problem often faced by service center technicians is opening doors when the latch is defective. You might first try calling or going to a professional locksmith and pay them to use their specialty lockout tools. Failing that, the next step is usually to remove the inner door trim panel to release the latch, not an easy task with the door closed and the seat in the way. It may be possible to remove the seat first for easier access.
