LEESBURG, Va. The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Board of Directors voted to renew the organization’s existing multi-year agreement with Prometric during its most recent board meeting. Since the launch of ASE computer-based certification testing in 2011, ASE and Prometric have delivered more than 900,000 automotive service and repair credentialing exams, providing ASE certifications in 48 specialized areas. The program is on pace to reach 1 million exams by the end of 2014.
"Our latest year of testing, which included the launch of our new G1 Auto Maintenance and Light Repair certification, saw continued improvement in the ASE program," said Tim Zilke, ASE president and CEO. "Secure, fair and convenient testing experiences, combined with quality customer care and accurate score reporting are hallmarks of the ASE certification program and contributed to the Board’s decision to renew our relationship with Prometric. In the coming years, we will continue to advance our certification program to keep pace with the needs of the automotive industry and the highly skilled technicians who keep our increasingly complex machines on the road."
ASE exams are delivered nationally in computer-based and Internet-based testing platforms in Prometric test sites and more than 140 college-based satellite sites. ASE began its exclusive testing partnership with Prometric in 2010, with the conversion of its paper-based testing program to a technology-based format.
"Thousands of automotive service professionals proudly wear the ASE Blue Seal as validation of their knowledge and expertise. Prometric shares ASE’s commitment to excellence for providing the best possible testing experience for technicians to earn and maintain their credentials," said Michael Brannick, president and CEO of Prometric. "We appreciate the board’s confidence in Prometric to renew ASE’s contract with us early, and through the next five-plus years."
The ASE board’s vote extends the non-profit’s contract with Prometric through 2019.
