HAMBURG, Germany —  Garage staff who have to replace water pumps can now find helpful support for this repair job on “MEYLE TV” on YouTube. In the company’s latest video, the “MEYLE Mechanics” explain why it is necessary to flush the cooling system. The video also takes a look at the special features of MEYLE-HD water pumps.

For repair shops, water pumps are a subject that regularly leads to customer complaints. The demands made of the water pump in old cars are greater than for new vehicles. The cooling systems become contaminated from use (wear and tear, ageing) and from possible repairs (replacing the cylinder head gasket, opening the cooling system). It is easy for particles to spread through the entire cooling system and therefore to penetrate the sealing gap of the mechanical seal and destroy the smooth surface. A faulty water pump and an insufficient volume of cooling water can quickly do a lot of damage to the engine.

So the “MEYLE Mechanics” show why it’s important to flush the cooling system in their latest video. And in the process they explain how to protect a water pump from wear and tear and breaking down.

Camshaft and Crankshaft Sensors

These small but mighty sensors enable modern engines to run with far greater efficiency than ever before.

Older vehicles with carburetors and distributors didn’t need to know the position of the crankshaft or the camshaft. Timing was fixed, and the timing could easily be set, as long as the technician could line up top-dead-center on cylinder No. 1 and line up the mark on the crankshaft pulley. But this was back before fuel injection was standard, and today’s engines are a lot more advanced than those older carbureted engines.
