LONG BEACH, Calif. – Pro Stock leader Jason Line rode to his fourth season victory on DENSO spark plugs in the recent Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals in Atlanta. The May 13-15 races at the Atlanta Dragway mark the seventh weekend event in the action-packed 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

Line streaked to victory in 6.611 seconds at 209.75 mph in his Summit Racing Equipment Chevy Camaro. With a total of 812 points, Line continues to lead the Pro Stock pack for the season. Also racing on DENSO spark plugs, Eddie Krawiec captured his second season win in the Pro Stock Motorcycle final. Roaring across the finish line on his Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson, Krawiec won in 6.824 seconds at 196.56 mph, holding his position as the season Pro Stock Motorcycle leader with 373 points.

DENSO spark plugs also powered Dan Fletcher, who has won in five other classes, to his first victory in the Super Street finals. The 11.505-second finish marks Fletcher’s 97th career win. He conquered the field in the same ‘69 Chevy Camaro that, with 51 victories, has won more races than any other car in NHRA history and was also driven by his father.

“The thrill of each race is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the excitement of every NHRA weekend at the track,” said Fran Labun, vice president of sales for DENSO Products and Services Americas, Inc. “The series is also about tradition, excellence and innovation, which is why DENSO is a proud supporting sponsor of the entire season.”

To celebrate the full 24 race Mello Yellow series, DENSO invites fans to enter the DENSO2Win NHRA Sweepstakes for the chance to win an exclusive trip for two to the NHRA Finals, Nov. 10-13, in Pomona, Calif. The prize includes round-trip airfare from anywhere in the continental U.S., a three-day, four-night hotel stay, tickets to the 2016 NHRA Finals, and VIP access to the NHRA drivers.

At every race, fans are invited to visit the DENSO display on the midway to learn more about and purchase DENSO’s premium Iridium TT, Iridium Power and Iridium Racing spark plugs. DENSO is also posting its own race and product updates on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube throughout the series. In early April, DENSO served as the title sponsor at the 17th annual DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas.

For nearly half a century, DENSO, a leading global automotive supplier, has sponsored world-class motor sports, including NHRA, NASCAR, Formula One, World Rally Championship and Super GT races. DENSO spark plugs, alternators, radiators and engine management systems are among the precision original equipment and replacement auto parts widely used by professional racing teams on every circuit around the globe.
