READING, Pa. EnerSys, the manufacturer of ODYSSEY batteries, announced its sponsorship of Rutledge Wood’s 1953 Plymouth Suburban project vehicle, which will join the 2014 Hot Rod Power Tour in Knoxville, Tenn. on June 8, 2014. Wood received the vehicle as a gift from Richard Petty and is rebuilding the Suburban with updates to the major components such as the battery, engine and drive train, but will maintain traditional styling.
As the official battery sponsor, EnerSys will equip the 1953 Plymouth Suburban with an ODYSSEY Extreme Series battery. Engineered with Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology and an Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) construction, ODYSSEY batteries provide more cranking power than conventional batteries and deep cycle capability up to 400 cycles at 80 percent depth of discharge. The ODYSSEY battery logo will also be prominently displayed on the vehicle.
