Importance Of Oil Changes Highlighted In Car Care Council Video

Produced in conjunction with AutoNetTV Media, the new video discusses the why, when and where to have an oil change performed.

As part of its efforts to educate motorists about the importance of preventative vehicle maintenance, the Car Care Council has released a new video titled, “It’s Time for an Oil Change.”

Produced in conjunction with AutoNetTV Media,  the new video discusses the why, when and where to have an oil change performed, including:

  • Why – Oil lubricates the moving parts of the engine and changing the oil keeps the engine clean.
  • When – The video suggests checking the vehicle’s owner’s manual for recommended oil-change intervals.
  • Where – An oil change performed by a professional technician at an independent repair shop is a quick and low-cost vehicle service.

“Performing oil changes at the routine intervals outlined in the owner’s manual is one of the least expensive, yet effective, ways to keep an engine running at peak performance and extend the life of the vehicle,” said Rich White, executive director of the Car Care Council. “Our new video provides useful information to help car owners understand the importance of regular oil changes.”

A Closer Look at Rack-and-Pinion Steering

It’s simpler and less expensive, but not without its headaches.

rack: noun

1. The linear component of a rack and pinion gearset.

2. The short name given to a rack and pinion steering assembly for an automobile.

This is one of those times when the same word is used over and over to describe two things that are related but different. When I first learned about rack-and-pinion steering, it was anything but new. Nonetheless, in my world, I was used to traditional. I was among the guilty who shunned things that in no way could ever be better than a carburetor, points, condenser and crank windows.
