This LED lamp has infrared sensing, delivers superior lighting characteristics and minimizes obstruction and damage.

Optronics, LED lamp

Optronics International has announced the introduction of its new ILL38CMB Corner-Mount Interior LED Lamp. The modular, low-profile lamp can be installed in virtually any trailer as original equipment or as an aftermarket upgrade.

One of the challenges of interior vehicle lighting is to evenly illuminate the largest area possible, and to achieve this, a central lamp location is often adopted. Unfortunately, the placement of even a low-profile lamp on the ceiling of a vehicle’s cargo or work area can make it vulnerable to being struck by cargo, dock equipment and forklifts.

Optronics’ new ILL38CMB Corner-Mount Interior LED Lamp relocates a vehicle’s critical interior lighting sources away from the high-traffic central core of a vehicle, where they are vulnerable to potential harm, and reorients them to the corners of a vehicle’s ceiling. A corner location keeps the lights away from potential threats while providing opposing beam directions that reduce shadows and dark areas, enhancing overall interior illumination quality.

“The ILL38CMB Corner-Mount Interior LED Lamp is a smart design that takes interior lighting out of harm’s way,” Brett Johnson, president and CEO of Optronics International, said. “This lamp combines practicality with safety and automation to create a unique new lighting solution.”

The ILL38CMB has a modular design that enables multiple LED lamps to be spaced along the ceiling of a vehicle or configured as two continuous bars of light on ceiling corners throughout the entire length of a vehicle. The lamps have a sturdy corner-mount design that attaches securely to both the ceiling and the wall.

The ILL38CMB Corner-Mount Interior LED Lamp also comes with a passive infrared (PIR) sensor that provides flexibility to the user, according to the company. The PIR can be programmed to trigger either individual light segments or a vehicle-wide interior lighting array.

“Turning lamps on and off not only takes time, but if left on and unattended, can put needless wear and tear on batteries, alternators and electrical systems,” Johnson said. “With the ILL38CMB Corner-Mount Interior LED Lamp, it’s on when you need it and off when you don’t.”

The new multi-volt lamp is compatible with both 12- and 24-volt electrical systems. The lamp operates in both refrigerated and non-climate-controlled environments and has an operational range of between -4 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 and 60 degrees Celsius), the company stated.

“Light strikes are a big problem for some shippers and are associated with certain types of cargo,” Johnson said. “Our new Corner-Mount Interior Lamp is an intelligent solution that will reduce damage in dry vans and reefers alike.”

The new ILL38CMB Corner-Mount Interior LED Lamp is expected to be available at the end of the first quarter of 2019.

Lenses and housings are made of tough polycarbonate material that is sonically welded, and the base is made of sturdy aluminum. The lamps employ a solid-state, surface-mount device (SMD) design that protects their electronics against moisture, shock and vibration.

Like all LED products from Optronics, these lamps come with no-hassle, one-diode lifetime warranty protection that will replace the lamp if even one diode fails.

Optronics products are available in the U.S. and Canada through the company’s extensive distribution network of more than 15,000 convenient distribution locations.
