For the second consecutive year, Pep Boys presented $300 gift cards and roadside safety kits to more than 100 U.S. military veterans during Progressive’s Keys to Progress events in dozens of locations across the country. The Keys to Progress program provides reliable transportation to help military veterans and their families move forward in life. The gift cards can be redeemed for automotive service, parts or accessories at any of the approximately 1,000 Pep Boys locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

At a recent regional Keys to Progress event in Mayfield Village, Ohio, Pep Boys Mobile Crew, a team of ASE-certified professional technicians who provide on-location maintenance and repair services, helped prepare recipients’ vehicles for final delivery. They were assisted by Shell TapUp, a mobile fueling service that delivers Shell quality fuels and cleaning direct to vehicles for businesses and consumers, which provided tanks of gas to vehicle recipients.

“We thank Progressive Insurance for welcoming our support of this important program and the veterans who have done so much to protect our nation,” said Brian Kaner, CEO-service, Icahn Automotive, who spoke to recipients and attendees at the Mayfield Village event. “We recognize the difficulty many veterans face transitioning to their lives as civilians and are proud to play a role in helping them maintain safe, reliable transportation.”

In addition to its support of the Keys to Progress program, Pep Boys offers an everyday 10-percent discount on automotive service and parts to all active, reserve and retired military personnel, and is a proud employer of veterans and reserve members of the military.

Progressive’s Keys to Progress program has donated more than 700 vehicles in seven years to veterans and veteran organizations. Progressive works with local National Auto Body Council (NABC) member body shops and charitable organizations to recycle and donate vehicles that have been damaged in an accident. The program is affiliated with NABC’s Recycled Ridesinitiative. Affiliates such as Pep Boys, support the program by fulfilling additional needs that come as a result of new vehicle ownership.
