PORTER, Texas — Royal Purple developed a multi-purpose spray lube called Maxfilm.
Most brands of spray lube rely on a mixture of mineral-based oils and solvents that work primarily as a water dispersant and need to be repeatedly applied to be effective, the company said. Maxfilm is a true two-in-one product that outperforms its competitors by using blend of unique fully synthetic chemistry, including Royal Purple’s own Synerlec additive technology.
Combining a quickly penetrating and evaporating solvent with a durable, fully-synthetic, high-strength dry film, Maxfilm is great at lubricating and providing long lasting protection from corrosion and wear with as little as one application, according to the company.
What Can Maxfilm Do?
•Lubricate power tools, hinges, chains, lock mechanisms, open gears, even fishing tackle and lawn equipment
•Prevent binding and free up stuck or corroded parts such as nuts, bolts, hinges, cables, chains and gears
•Preserve/protect parts from corrosion that result from long-term seasonal storage and exposure to the weather, including salt air
•Eliminate corrosion on battery terminals
•Work as a manual cutting fluid to facilitate hand drilling, tapping and metal cutting of steel or aluminum
Maxfilm’s incredibly high film strength means it’s best at reducing or preventing wear that comes with the friction of metal-to-metal contact that can happen without lubrication or when other leading lubricants ultimately break down and quit working, according to the company.
In addition to being an exceptional lubricant, Maxfilm is also an effective corrosion inhibitor because of increased oxidation stability built into the product. The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) measures a lubricant’s ability to resist oxidation and corrosion with a test called the Thin Film Oxidation Uptake Test (TFOUT). Maxfilm is so effective, it actually outlasted the duration of the test, outperforming both the leading mineral and synthetic-based lubricants.
“With the average do-it-yourselfer or handyman in mind, we’ve created a product we feel is far superior to leading competitors,” said Royal Purple Technical Services Manager, Chris Barker. “Maxfilm is designed to do a better job cleaning, protecting and penetrating and lasts longer doing it than other brands in the market. The unique mixture of cleanly evaporating solvent and dry film lubricant with Synerlec technology is simply the best.”
Maxfilm relies on a carbon-dioxide propellant to deliver its solvent and lubricant mixture. The resulting dry film won’t collect dirt or dust and avoids the gelling or gumming that can happen with certain mineral-based products.
Maxfilm was independently member tested by the Handyman Club of America, earning the Member Tested and Recommended seal. The combined ratings of the product were based on a scale of 1 to 10.
Maxfilm is available in-store at O’Reilly Auto Parts and online through e-retailers including Amazon, Pace Performance,Summit Racing and Jegs.
