Royal Purple Returns To The Indianapolis 500 With A Sponsored Car

Townsend Bell's No. 6 Robert Graham - KV Racing Technology Chevrolet/Dallara/Firestone features a unique first of-its-kind livery.

PORTER, Texas — Premium synthetic lubricant manufacturer, Royal Purple, has officially made its return to the Indianapolis 500. The Royal Purple-sponsored No. 6 Robert Graham – KV Racing Technology Chevrolet/Dallara/Firestone entry driven by Townsend Bell debuted May 10 and has taken to the track ahead of the 98th running of the race on Sunday, May 25.

Royal Purple has teamed up with primary and first time Indy 500 sponsor, clothing designer, Robert Graham. Bell will be driving the stylish No. 6 car that features a solid black paint scheme with color splash accents on the front wing, side pods and rear wing tips, as well as the inside of the cockpit.

“We are looking forward to being a part of the Indy 500 at what we consider a home venue,” said Bryan Yourdon, Royal Purple president. “We are proud to continue our support of Townsend Bell and are looking forward to a strong finish from him and the KV Racing team.”

Royal Purple is owned by Indianapolis-based Calumet Specialty Products (NASDAQ: CLMT) and is a part of a branded products division that includes TruFuel Engineered Fuel, Bel-Ray Performance Lubricants and Quantum Lubricants.

“I first raced with Royal Purple last year at the X Games in Munich, Germany and they support my TUDOR United SportsCar Championship AIM Autosport Ferrari program, so it’s really cool that they have come on board as an associate sponsor for my Indy 500 effort,” said Bell. “What makes the program really special is that Royal Purple’s parent company, Calumet Specialty Products Partners, is located just a stone’s throw away from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I can see their headquarters from the top of the Pagoda and they can hear my car when I am out on the track.  I just want to thank everyone at Royal Purple and Calumet for their support and I look forward to enjoying the whole Indy 500 experience with their employees and customers.”

Fans can tune into ABC to watch qualifying for the Indianapolis 500 on May 17 and the race, the following week, on May 25.
