Strauss Discount Auto declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy on June 4. All locations of the business have been closed and, according to a Strauss executive, there are parties interested in acquiring portions of the business.
This isn’t the first time the company has filed Chapter 11. In 2007, Japanese big box retailer Autobacs Seven acquired Strauss Discount Auto out of bankruptcy protection for about $55 million. The company, which was renamed Autobacs Strauss, again filed for bankruptcy in 2009.
