The $125,000 ‘Search For A Champion’ Racing Sponsorship Contest Returns This Fall

The Champion spark plug brand will fund 15 sponsorships for grassroots racers; entry period begins Nov. 3 at www.AlwaysaChampion.com.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Champion Spark Plug brand is once again stepping forward to support grassroots racers through its $125,000 “Search for a Champion” contest, which will fund 15 sponsorships available to racers in virtually every form of engine-driven competition. Racers can enter the contest beginning Nov. 3 by submitting a 2-minute video profile at www.AlwaysaChampion.com. Champion spark plugs, filters and chemical additives are distributed by Federal-Mogul Motorparts, a division of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corp.

The Search for a Champion contest will offer 15 $5,000 Champion racing sponsorships and one $50,000 grand-prize sponsorship to grassroots racers whose entry videos best demonstrate their commitment to winning with the help of “Performance Driven” Champion spark plugs. For the third straight year, Federal-Mogul Motorparts and the Champion brand will also award free Champion “swag” bags, complete with a contest decal and Champion hat and T-shirt, to the first 250 entrants.

The contest is open to racers in three broad categories – Asphalt, Dirt and Water/Snow – with winners selected based in part on votes cast by members of the Web-based Champion community. Last year’s contest established new records for the number of video entries (392) and consumer votes (more than 243,000).

“Winning the Search for a Champion contest will always rank as one of the greatest thrills of my life, no matter how far I’m able to advance in my racing career,” said 2014 grand prize winner Jordan Ives, a 17-year-old driver who campaigns a Chevrolet Monte Carlo Super Late Model throughout the Midwestern U.S. “The Champion brand has been a great friend to grassroots racers, and this contest is just one of many reasons why I’ll always use Champion plugs to power my engines.”

“Search for a Champion was an entirely new concept for the racing community when it launched back in 2011, and it has gotten significantly bigger and more competitive every year,” said Jessica Wynn, global digital marketing manager for Federal-Mogul Motorparts. “We have been incredibly impressed with the care that has gone into each of the videos – it’s obvious that these racers view Champion as the ideal partner to help them achieve their goals.”

Video entries must be submitted to the www.AlwaysaChampion.com website between Nov. 3, 2014, and Jan. 4, 2015. The Champion community will vote for 15 finalists between Jan. 6 and Feb. 3, 2015. Voting for the $50,000 Search for a Champion grand prize will take place Feb. 24 through March 24, 2015.
