LONGUEIL, Quebec – The Heart and Stroke Foundation has honored Richard Roy, president and CEO of Uni-Select Inc., with a Québec Heart Silver Award.

A tradition was born in 2003 with Uni-Select’s initial involvement as proud partner of the Banquet du cœur, a major annual event organized by the Montérégie office. Roy has continued this custom with boundless enthusiasm since 2010, when he first assumed the role of the event’s honorary president. In the span of just five of the annual events, Roy alone has managed to raise more than $175,000 to date, a true testimony to his strong leadership, according to the foundation.

This achievement is even more remarkable in view of the very busy schedule of a businessman who is widely recognized across Canada and the United States. “If all people of similar importance extended such generous acts of love and kindness the world would be a better place,” said Hélène Gagné, the foundation’s area manager, Montérégie/Estrie. “Roy’s exceptional contribution makes him indispensable to the Foundation’s mission, which aims to eliminate heart disease and stroke and to create more survivors.”

The Foundation honored Roy with the Québec Heart Silver Award, granted annually to thank volunteers for their dedication to the health of all, while underlining the remarkable contribution of certain individuals.
