SAUK CITY, Wis. – Mark Weaver, president of Weaver Auto Parts in Sauk City, Wis., announced Monday that more than $40,000 dollars was raised from the company’s recent car raffle. Proceeds will be used to help area veterans.

“We want to thank all of our great customers and everyone in the community who participated in this raffle,” said Weaver. “It is through their support that we are able to honor our local veterans.”

Part of National Pronto Association, Weaver Auto Parts is a warehouse with 17 affiliated stores that are located in and around Madison, Wis. Founded in 1972, the business caters to wholesale and retail auto parts customers in the south central area of Wisconsin.

The money will be donated to the Veteran’s Assistance Foundation (VAF) in Tomah, Wis. The VAFs mission is to identify and address the issues faced by veterans who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness in our communities. According to Chris Hanson, VAF President, the raffle money will be used to provide transitional housing, rapid re-housing, homelessness prevention services and access to benefit services for veterans and their families in the state of Wisconsin.

The car that was raffled off was a rare 1979 Hurst Olds. The car was shown and at various car shows across south central Wisconsin. Raffle tickets were also available at all 17 Weaver Auto Parts locations. The car was purchased from Weaver employee Tom Mabin and was originally bought at the Ballweg Oldsmobile dealership in Sauk City in 1979. Bob Hendricks of Baraboo, Wis., was the winner of the raffle. Not only has Hendricks won a bona fide piece of Olds and Hurst history, but one heck of a nice ride! By combining the gold-anodized wheels and the Hurst Dual/Gate shifter, the AM-FM/8-Track radio with a solid Olds 350, it is a treat to drive.

“All of us here at Weaver Auto Parts are honored to help our veteran who have served us so well,” Weaver added. “We want to sincerely thank everyone who purchased a ticket.”
