Amazon Automotive Exec to Share Insights on ‘Evolving Channel Model’ at 2019 AASA Vision Conference

The 2019 AASA Vision Conference, presented by the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), is slated for Wednesday, April 3, at The Henry in Dearborn, Michigan.

Buying habits for automotive parts are creating new business models and the emergence of pure online e-tailers.

Suppliers attending the 2019 AASA Vision Conference will have an opportunity to learn more from Adam Goetsch, Amazon’s director of automotive, who will share his view of “The Evolving Channel Model.”

The 2019 AASA Vision Conference, presented by the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), is slated for Wednesday, April 3, at The Henry in Dearborn, Michigan.

“We have witnessed the tremendous growth and impact Amazon has experienced,” said Bill Long, AASA president and chief operating officer. “AASA is hosting this important session for our supplier members as the aftermarket industry continues to explore new avenues in response to changing consumer buying habits.”

Paul McCarthy, AASA executive vice president, added: “At the Vision conference, Amazon will be sharing its point of view on the aftermarket and their place in it. Adam has invited suppliers to engage in conversation about e-tailing’s place in the evolving channel model.”

In his current role, Goetsch manages Amazon.com’s automotive store, with responsibilities that include buying, merchandising, pricing, supply chain, product management and software development. He has held many roles at Amazon during his 12-plus-year tenure, including product management (both physical and digital), buying, supply chain and merchandising within a variety of categories. Goetsch holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a bachelor of science degree from the University of Illinois.

Goetsch’s discussion at the AASA Vision Conference is part of the segment, “New Roads: Building New Channels for Collaboration,” exclusively for the association’s supplier members. The member-only segment, scheduled for the closing of the conference, is in two parts and will conclude with Mark Finestone, executive vice president of merchandising for AutoZone, as the featured speaker for the “Customer Spotlight.”

The AASA Vision Conference is regarded as the aftermarket’s premier thought-leadership event and is dedicated to advancing the business interests of the aftermarket industry and the association’s members.

The 2019 event opens on Tuesday, April 2, with an industry networking reception at The Henry Ford Museum. The conference convenes the morning of April 3 with industrywide sessions examining critical aftermarket business issues, such as:

  • “Freedom of Choice and Access to Data”
  • “The Great Tariff Debate”
  • “How the Aftermarket Will Unfold in 2019-2020”
  • “The ‘New Retail’ Future of the Aftermarket (And How to Win)”
  • “Repairing High-Tech Vehicles”
