Joshua Johnson

Counterman’s “Guess the Car” contest challenges our readers to solve an automotive riddle, for a chance to win $100. And each month, we receive hundreds of responses from aftermarket professionals trying to guess the model of the vehicle depicted.

The correct answer for the June/July contest is the Hyundai Tucson. The winner is Joshua Johnson, assistant parts manager at NAPA Rantoul in Rantoul, Illinois.

Now, let’s get to know the “Guess the Car” champion.

CM: How long have you been working in the auto parts business?

JJ: It’s been eight years now. I started at O’Reilly, and now I’m assistant manager of a NAPA store.

CM: What do you like most about your job?

JJ: Helping customers that may be in a tight spot or need some direction to get their vehicle repaired.

CM: What’s the strangest question a customer has asked you?

JJ: I’d guess when a lady ran in asking for a fire extinguisher. It turns out she had oil dropping on the exhaust manifold and it started a small fire. We got the fire put out and she still drove that car after a few minor repairs.

CM: What’s the coolest car you’ve ever owned or worked on?

JJ: I’m a big Subaru fan. I own a 400 whp Impreza WRX STI Hatch and have helped work on my brother’s BRZ tS, along with some friends’ drag cars (Camaros, Mustangs and a Nova to name a few).

CM: Do you have any interesting hobbies? What do you do for fun?

JJ: I play iRacing with some friends. I have the triple-monitor setup with wheel and pedals and all. It’s super fun and relaxing (most of the time).

CM: What’s your dream car?

JJ: Being a Subaru fan, I have to say an Impreza 22B. But I love big-block muscle cars like the Chevelles or Chargers just as much.
