LKQ Mourns The Passing Of Founding Board Member Kevin F. Flynn

LKQ Corp. announced that Kevin F. Flynn, a member of the LKQ board of directors, passed away suddenly on Aug. 12, 2013. Flynn was instrumental in the initial formation of LKQ, facilitated a number of acquisitions and financings and served on the board for more than nine years.

CHICAGO – LKQ Corp. announced that Kevin F. Flynn, a member of the LKQ board of directors, passed away suddenly on Aug. 12, 2013. Flynn was instrumental in the initial formation of LKQ, facilitated a number of acquisitions and financings, and served on the board for more than nine years.

"We are shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden death of our colleague," said Robert Wagman, president and CEO. "Kevin was a valued member of the board of directors and he will be sorely missed."
 
Joseph Holsten, chairman of the board, added, "Kevin’s death is a tragedy for his family and a great loss to our company. I greatly appreciated his wisdom and counsel on company matters. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends."
 
According to an executive profile on Businessweek.com, Flynn, 46, also had served as chairman and CEO of Emerald Casino Inc. since 1996, and as CEO of Renovo Services LLC. Since June 1995, he had been the president of Flynn Enterprises Inc., and also served as the chairman and CEO of Chicago-based Emerald Ventures Inc. During his career, Flynn also served as chairman and CEO of Blue Chip Casino Inc., and as president and CEO of Flynn Brothers Entertainment Inc., which owned and operated 11 Blockbuster video stores on the West Coast. From July 1992 to June 1995, he served as vice president of Midwest region at Discovery Zone Inc. and served as its senior vice president of development.
 
A graduate of Marquette University, Flynn also had a leadership role on the board of The Chicago Children’s Museum and was active in numerous civic and philanthropic activities.
 
He is survived by his wife Susan and children Donald Francis, Shannon, Brendan, and Katie; mother Beverly; brother Brian (Michelle) Flynn; as well six nieces and one nephew.
