DENSO To Exhibit At The 43rd Tokyo Motor Show

The show will be held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, in Tokyo, and will be open to the public Saturday, Nov. 23 to Sunday, Dec. 1.

KARIA, Japan — Global automotive supplier DENSO Corp. will exhibit a wide range of products and technologies in the areas of safety and environment at the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show 2013. The show will be held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, in Tokyo, and will be open to the public Saturday, Nov. 23 to Sunday, Dec. 1. To support DENSO’s vision to contribute to an accident-free and eco-friendly society, DENSO’s exhibit theme is “Protecting lives, Preserving the planet, and Preparing a bright future for generations to come.”

120916ScreenSho_00000070390DENSO’s global President and CEO Nobuaki Katoh will talk about the company’s latest technological developments at a press conference on Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. in the DENSO booth, located in the East Hall.

Safety-Related Products
DENSO’s main exhibit, called the Interactive Communication Cockpit, will demonstrate how its sensing and human-machine interface (HMI) technologies can work together as an advanced system to improve safety and convenience for future drivers. DENSO’s technologies featured in the cockpit include:

An image sensor, millimeter-wave radar, laser radar, and vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) communication technologies, to recognize the surrounding environment and provide various information to the driver on a real-time basis.

The large-screen head-up display (HUD) installed to the cockpit to project the presence of hazards such as pedestrians and vehicles coming out from behind buildings or obstacles onto the windshield to alert the driver.

Communication robot that will check the driver’s health conditions before driving, or let the driver know in advance about potential dangers.

DENSO also will exhibit its pedestrian collision detection sensor, which allows the pop-up hood to operate more accurately.

Environment-related Technologies
DENSO will showcase its latest products and technologies for increasing energy efficiency on all types of powertrains, which will include:

Diesel common rail system with injectors that can operate at a maximum pressure of 250 MPa while using the intelligent-Accuracy Refinement (i-ART) system, the world’s first engine control system to regulate the fuel injection quantity and timing for the individual injectors.

Gasoline direct injection system where highly pressurized fuel is supplied to injectors that directly inject fuel into the combustion chambers of the engine at the optimum timing to produce the best air-fuel mixture.
Electric and hybrid electric vehicle technology (inverters, battery monitoring units for lithium ion batteries, motor generators, and DC-DC converters).

DENSO will also present technologies that improve comfort while reducing environmental impact, like the Cold Storage Evaporator that is embedded in a stop-start system. This technology supplies cool air to the vehicle cabin when the engine and air-conditioning cycle is off in the idle-stop state.

DENSO will exhibit several aftermarket products, such as in-vehicle Plasmacluster Ion Generator for cleaner air within your vehicle and Key Finder, as well as non-automotive products including the QR Code developed by DENSO WAVE.

Additionally, at the SMART MOBILITY CITY 2013 (West Hall), which will be held in conjunction with the Tokyo Motor Show, DENSO will display micro-grid products and technologies. This display will feature products that fit in the “Creating a low-carbon society ” theme. These include a stationary DC normal charger, a battery charger that can be controlled along with the HEMS (Home Energy Management System used to help consumers remember to turn off electrical devices, thus conserving energy), and a pico-grid system (low-voltage, DC power feeding system) that enables DC-driven devices to operate stably on electricity obtained from the battery of a small electric vehicle, and thus can be used in the event of a disaster.

DENSO Corp., headquartered in Kariya, Aichi prefecture, Japan, is a leading global automotive supplier of advanced technology, systems and components in the areas of thermal, powertrain control, electronics and information and safety.
