Federal-Mogul’s Iconic Champion brand to award 15 sponsorships to grassroots racers in asphalt, dirt, water/snow competition.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Grassroots racers in virtually any form of engine-driven competition can now submit their video entries into the Champion brand’s popular annual “Search for a Champion” contest, which will award $125,000 in 2014 sponsorships. Racers can enter the contest beginning today at www.AlwaysaChampion.com. Search for a Champion is sponsored by Federal-Mogul, manufacturer and marketer of Champion spark plugs and other “Performance Driven” products.

The 2014 contest will award 15 $5,000 Champion racing sponsorships and one $50,000 Search for a Champion grand-prize sponsorship. To enter the contest, racers must submit a 2-minute video that best demonstrates their commitment to winning a racing title with the support of the iconic Champion brand. The entry period continues through January 3, 2014. There is no cost to enter.

“Search for a Champion has become the unofficial start to the next season for thousands of talented grassroots drivers and teams,” said Jessica Wynn, digital marketing manager, Federal-Mogul Vehicle Components segment. “There’s a lot of money and prestige on the line – and for many racers, a Champion sponsorship could be the launching pad for a long and successful career in motorsports.”

Federal-Mogul will accept entries in three broad racing categories – Asphalt, Dirt and Water/Snow – covering everything from junior dragster, go-kart and motorcycle racing to snocross and personal watercraft competition. The Champion community will vote for 15 finalists and $5,000 winners between January 6 and February 2. Voting for the $50,000 Search for a Champion grand prize will take place February 21 through March 23. The contest headquarters page at www.AlwaysaChampion.com includes helpful tips from past winners on how to maximize voter support through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media.

The first 250 racers who submit videos will receive a Champion “swag” bag, complete with a Search for a Champion decal and Champion hat and t-shirt.
