Dr. San Gee, vice president of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the organizer of the show, told opening ceremony attendees that the combined shows are expected to bring 60,000 domestic and international buyers. The shows feature 1,346 exhibitors and 3,655 booths, which is an increase of 1.5 percent over last year, TAITRA said.

Taiwan is a big exporter of auto parts, exporting $6.6 billion in parts in 2013, up $1 billion over 2012, TAITRA said. AMPA, the parts show, has grown from 111 exhibitors and 185 booths in 1984 to 993 exhibitors and 2,871 booths this year.

More than 12 buyers with revenues in excess of $100 million are attending the show, TAITRA said, including Advance Auto Parts, Valeo and Delphi Shanghai.

EV Taiwan attendees will have opportunities to ride vehicles in both outdoor and indoor test areas. In addition, stunt riders from Japan will perform at the show.

"I hope all exhibitors receive a large number of orders and enjoy a thriving business, and I wish all guests good health and the best of luck," Gee said.

"With years of hard work, Taiwan’s automotive electronics have gained global admiration in terms of technology and product quality," said Fu-Hsiong Cheng, vice chairman of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturer’s Association (TEEMA). "Taiwanese companies can make use of their strengths in IT experience, strong production capabilities and flexible manufacturing systems, and research on vehicle telematics, multimedia, semi-conductor technology, software development, GPS and wireless transmission to grasp the large automotive electronics market and business opportunities."
