Hovis American Legion Award

STAUNTON, Va. — The Pennsylvania Department of the American Legion honored Federated member Hovis Auto & Truck Supply with two awards at its 2015 department convention. Hovis was recognized with the 2015 Employer of Veterans Award and the 2015 Employer of Older Workers Award. The awards were presented to Curt Hovis, vice president of Hovis Auto & Truck Supply.

When accepting the award, Hovis said, “My family and I owe each of you in this room and the veterans to follow the ‘thank you,’ not the other way around. Veterans provide the character, work ethic, responsibility and get-it-done attitude our company needs to be successful and grow. We strive to hire veterans every chance possible.”

The current staff of Hovis Truck & Auto Supply is 25 percent veterans and 63 percent of its employees are classified as “older workers.” Hovis Auto & Truck Wrecking first opened as a family business in 1952. By 1969, it had grown to include new parts sales and Hovis Auto & Truck Supply was formed. Since that time, the company has added 14 locations and expanded its business to include heavy duty truck parts, paint, body and equipment sales.

“We want to congratulate Cliff and Curt Hovis on receiving these well-deserved honors from the Pennsylvania American Legion,” said Rusty Bishop, CEO of Federated Auto Parts. “Federated members have a long history of hiring veterans because they are hardworking, high character, responsible workers. The auto care industry has always been a leader in veteran employment opportunities and we are proud to be part of that effort.”
