AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — BorgWarner, manufacturer of Delco Remy Genuine Products, is now offering the 18SI heavy-duty alternator, engineered specifically to improve fuel economy for Sprinter Vans.

“We are committed to providing our aftermarket customers with solutions developed for the applications they need,” said Dr. Stefan Demmerle, president and general manager, BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems. “Our engineers have responded to this growing, global market by designing an alternator with industry-leading performance, durability and efficiency.”

The 18SI alternator delivers higher output at idle and driving speeds, so batteries charge quicker and last longer. It features Dual Internal Fan (DIF) technology to keep the alternator cooler and a LIN regulator for higher efficiency and measurable fuel economy improvement. These innovations, along with long-life brushes and the bearing protection system, respond to the high electrical loads in Sprinter Vans and deliver durable performance even with increased temperatures under the hood.

The Delco Remy-branded 18SI alternator covers both gas and diesel powered Sprinter Van applications from 2002 – 2012. Light-duty starters are also available for these vehicles over the same ten-year coverage.
