1:30 p.m. – The Auto Care Association is now accepting applications for the 2017 Auto Care Careers Internship Scholarship program. This program provides financial support for students pursuing internships across the country who wish to gain valuable, real-world experience in a variety of auto care businesses and careers.

10:30 a.m. – The Auto Care Association recently commissioned a Heavy Duty Industry Feasibility Study on behalf of its HDDA: Heavy Duty segment to determine the viability of establishing product information standards for the heavy duty aftermarket supply chain. Findings of the industry-driven study were presented Jan. 25 during Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) in Las Vegas.

10:20 a.m. – AAPEX 2017 will take place Tuesday, Oct. 31 through Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas. Online registration will be available in May 2017. Buyers who would like to be notified when registration opens can sign up on the AAPEX website, aapexshow.com/reginq.

10:15 a.m. – MAHLE Service Solutions announced at Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW), new partnerships with Gray and Noregon to strengthen its product portfolio of tools and equipment for the heavy duty aftermarket. Under the agreement with Gray, the company will produce a full-line of shop equipment for MAHLE Service Solutions under the banner “MAHLE manufactured by Gray.” Gray Manufacturing Company Inc. has been designing, manufacturing and selling lifting equipment since 1952.

10:10 a.m. – National Science Foundation (NSF) Director France Córdova will deliver the annual government keynote address at the 2017 Washington Auto Show’s Public Policy Preview Day on Jan. 26, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

9:30 a.m. – Germany’s federal government has approved a draft law allowing for autonomously-driving cars to be active on German streets. Responsibility for mishaps continued to rest firmly in the hands of the driver, but allows for the driver to hand control of his or her vehicle to the vehicle’s own control system in certain situations and for certain periods of time, reports to Germany Trade & Invest press office.

 

9:07 a.m. – Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems recorded its safest year ever in 2016. Bendix plants across North America experienced a record-low 16 recordable injuries, a nearly 50 percent reduction from 2015, the company said.
