Glen Culbertson, Co-Founder of Jobber-Software Firm CounterWorks, Passes Away

CounterWorks has served more than 1,000 jobber sites throughout the automotive aftermarket during the past 35 years.

Glen Culbertson, the father of CounterWorks, passed away on Jan. 7. He was 86 years old.

Culbertson, along with Pete Kornafel, Art Lotus and Lou Parillo, founded CounterWorks in 1982. CounterWorks has served more than 1,000 jobber sites throughout the automotive aftermarket during the past 35 years.

Culbertson was the chief architect and head programmer until 1997 when he retired. However, he still maintained an active role in the company. To this day, his sons, Dave and Matt Culbertson, maintain his legacy and continue to run the business.

“I started working with Glen 30 years ago. The thing that I remember best about Glen is that no matter what we asked of the software, he always found a way to get it done,” said Brad Cowen, president of CounterWorks and director at Autowares. “He treated everyone like family. I will miss his insight and the pleasure of a margarita over dinner with him and Joan. He passed on his attitude, vision and ingenuity to everyone he touched. He will be greatly missed.”

Culbertson’s funeral mass was celebrated on Jan. 10, in Centennial, Colorado. He is being remembered as a family man, athlete and talented computer scientist. To view Culbertson’s full obituary and information on memorials, click here.
