WATCH: Why You Should Recommend High-Quality Oil Filters

Today’s oil filters have to collect many times more dirt, filter out finer particles and last longer.

Oil filters play a vital role in the operation of a vehicle. They’re designed to trap tiny particles that can damage the engine’s mechanical components.  By keeping contaminants out of the lubrication system, oil filters help maintain oil integrityh and the performance and efficiency of the engine.

So why is it more important than ever to use a high-quality oil filter? To answer that question, all you have to do is look under the hood of a late-model car, truck or SUV.  Increasingly, newer vehicles are being powered by four-cylinder, direct-injection, turbocharged engines. Due to the extreme temperatures and rpm being generated by these engines, a constant supply of clean, fresh oil is absolutely critical. Insufficient lubrication can damage the bearings and seals and even cause pre-ignition, which can lead to catastrophic engine failure.

Another reason is the fact that the manufacturer’s recommended service intervals for late-model vehicles are getting longer and longer. In the past, it was standard practice to change the oil and the oil filter every 3,000 miles.  However, the recommended service intervals for vehicles today can range from 5,000 to 10,000 miles or more.

Today’s oil filters have to collect many times more dirt, filter out finer particles and last longer. That why it’s critical to use a top-quality oil filter that can meet the performance demands of today’s engines and go the distance without clogging.
