Selling Wheel Bearings and Hub Units to DIFM Customers

Using premium wheel bearings means fewer customer comebacks.

Today, sealed wheel bearings and bearing-hub assemblies account for the majority of wheel bearings on vehicles today.

The most common type used today is the Generation 3 bearing. This is a compact bearing unit with two flanges: One is the wheel hub, and one is a mounting flange to bolt it to the steering knuckle. These also can come with or without ABS-sensor rings, and, in many cases, the wheel-speed sensor is built into the bearing assembly.

When it comes recommending replacement bearings or hub assemblies, encourage your DIFM customers to use a premium product. They typically use higher-quality materials and heat-treating processes that make for harder surfaces, which are better-suited to resist impact damage.

Why Do Timing Chains Stretch?

If your customer’s timing chain fails, it can lead to serious engine damage and repairs can be complex and costly for your customer.

Timing change. Stretch is not the stretching of the timing change's links. It is elongation of the timing chain caused by where to the change components. Timing change stretch is a common issue in internal combustion engines. To understand it better, let's break down the basics.
