Automotive Supply Associates Donates To University Of The Aftermarket Foundation In Memory Of George Segal

Proceeds from annual golf outing to fund industry scholarships.

BETHESDA, Md. – The annual Automotive Supply Associates (ASA)/Sanel Auto Parts golf outing had extra meaning this year as the proceeds from the event were donated to the University of the Aftermarket Foundation. The donation was made in memory of George Segal, chairman of ASA/Sanel, who passed away in August at the age of 87.

“Our dad spent his career in the automotive aftermarket; he grew up in the business. He really enjoyed being with customers, suppliers and team members, and he loved golf and the camaraderie of our annual tournament. My brothers, Bobby and Alan, and I are grateful for the generosity of all the participants. It is a fitting tribute to be able to donate the proceeds from this year’s event in our father’s memory,” said David Segal, president of ASA/Sanel Auto Parts.

The golf outing, held Sept. 12 at the Pembroke Pines Country Club in Pembroke, N.H., brought together customers, suppliers and company personnel who played to raise funds for scholarships for Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont students pursuing careers in the auto care industry. Thirty-six foursomes raised $10,000 for the University of the Aftermarket Foundation in honor of Segal, a widely recognized industry leader who served on numerous advisory boards during his 50-year career.

“Early on, we planned with our father to give this year’s tournament more meaning by helping provide scholarships to students who want to work in our industry,” said Bobby Segal, COO and treasurer of ASA/Sanel Auto Parts. “He would be proud to know that his family, friends and colleagues came together to have fun and fulfill his vision of helping educate young people in our own backyard.”
