New AWDA Governors Take Office At AAPEX

Taking office immediately following the close of AAPEX on Nov. 6 was AWDA's new Chairman Corey Bartlett, MAAP, president, Automotive Parts Headquarters in St. Cloud, Minn. Bartlett succeeds J. Richard Fairbanks Jr., Orleans Auto Supply, Hyannis, Mass., who led the association through the previous 12 months and remains on the council as immediate past chairman.

AWDABETHESDA, Md. – The Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA) Council of Governors, a segment of the Auto Care Association, introduced its newest officers and governors following the group’s 2014 Annual Business and Education Conference in Las Vegas.

Taking office immediately following the close of AAPEX on Nov. 6 was AWDA’s new Chairman Corey Bartlett, MAAP, president, Automotive Parts Headquarters in St. Cloud, Minn. Bartlett succeeds J. Richard Fairbanks Jr., Orleans Auto Supply, Hyannis, Mass., who led the association through the previous 12 months and remains on the council as immediate past chairman.

Joining Bartlett as the new AWDA 2014-’15 officers will be Vice Chairman Cliff Hovis, Hovis Auto Supply in Mercer, Pa.; and entering the chairs as Secretary will be Robert Segal, MAAP, Automotive Supply Associates Inc., Concord, N.H. Richard Beirne, Automotive Parts Headquarters, LaCross, Wis., retains his position as AWDA treasurer.

“These new officers join a long and distinguished line of great leaders that have progressed through the AWDA chairs whose commitment to the industry is inspiring,” said Larry Northup, executive director, AWDA.

Also joining the AWDA Council of Governors are:

* Don Bickle, Warehouse Inc., Hays, Kan.
* Ernie Blome, One Stop Part Source, Santa Ana, Calif.
* J.R. Moore, Performance Warehouse, Portland, Ore.
* William H. (Henry) Slack, Slack Auto Parts Co., Gainesville, Ga.
* Young Suhr, APW Knox-Seeman Warehouse Inc., Carson, Calif.

AWDA’s nominating committee insists that, if asked, any incoming governor must be qualified to serve as chairman. The result of this long-standing policy is a consistent supply of high-quality council members who are interested, engaged and committed to traditional distribution, the auto care industry and the association.

“Without a doubt, AWDA’s tradition of excellence in leadership continues with this new group of officers and governors,” said Northup.
