Raybestos Brakes Help Matt Kenseth Clinch A Spot In The Chase

JGR driver earns third win at Bristol and 29th of his career.

MCHENRY, Ill. — History repeated itself at Saturday’s Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Matt Kenseth gave it all he had and held off Kasey Kahne during the closing laps to secure the win. Just as he did in March in Las Vegas and again in April at Kansas… Kenseth won a heated battle with Kahne and drove his No. 20 Dollar General Toyota to victory lane under the stopping power of Raybestos brakes.
The victory was Kenseth’s fifth of the year and it guaranteed the driver of the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota at least a Wild Card spot in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

“We held the lead through multiple restarts but, at the end, we knew we were running low on fuel and we were racing on old tires,” said Jason Ratcliff, Crew Chief of Kenseth’s No. 20 Dollar General Toyota. “Kahne pulled alongside or nosed ahead of a few times during those closing laps, but Matt was able to navigate his way through the challenge and held him off.

The Raybestos Racing brake package, used by NASCAR teams like Joe Gibbs Racing, combines ample stopping power with a considerable weight savings advantage on short tracks like the Bristol Motor Speedway’s .533-Mile Oval.

Raybestos racing brake pads are the ultimate high-friction, high-torque racing pads, the company says. The famous Raybestos “ST” series racing compounds provide superior stopping power for championship-caliber race teams.

Raybestos Racing calipers have an optimized structure caliper architecture design and a mono-block aluminum alloy construction. They also include integral crossover cooling and progressively sized titanium pistons.

Raybestos Racing two-piece rotors are engineered to withstand the high-heat torture of short tracks and road courses; delivering the effective lightweight operation required for qualifying and superspeedway runs. Winning features include an S-groove slot design, a racing-specific vane configuration and optimized metallurgy.

For reliable performance, all Joe Gibbs Sprint Cup racecars are also equipped with Raybestos Racing ball joints and tie rods. The premium-quality chassis parts help fine-tune each car’s suspension setup for optimal grip and handling.

The lessons learned on tracks like Bristol are continually translated into product improvements across the entire Raybestos product line, which includes racing, street performance, police patrol/pursuit vehicles and heavy-duty trucks.

ost of our workdays are spent typing and mouse-clicking our way through hundreds of parts requests and catalogue prompts, and we rely heavily on computers for most aspects of our daily operations. Think of the last time your store’s internet or server network went down. Catalogue and inventory information, ordering and receiving functions, invoice printers, driver dispatch and order tracking, and even time clock access are all crippled when the plug gets pulled. Chaos ensues, and if there is no backup plan in place, work grinds to a halt. Depending on corporate policy, you may even have to close the doors until you are back up and running.
