MotoLOGIC

ROANOKE, Va. — MOTOSHOP Technology Tools, a portolio of Web-based resources for automotive technicians, today announced the grand prize winner and nine runner-ups of The Future of Automotive Repair & Diagnostics Essay Contest. Students across the country submitted essays detailing their vision for technology’s role in the repair and diagnostics process with one grand prize winner receiving a check for $1,000, a one-year subscription to MotoLOGIC, a MotoSKILL Shop Tech Training ASE Test Prep Training Bundle and his winning essay published in Tomorrow’s Technician magazine.

Michael Guerrieri, a student at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, received the grand prize for original ideas and clear understanding of the future of automotive repair and diagnostics. Guerrieri’s school will also receive $5,000 in classroom technology upgrades and a five-year subscription to MotoLOGIC as a result of his winning submission.

“Technology is changing the hands-on approach that technicians have used for decades,” said Guerrieri in his essay. “The technician will still make hardware/component repairs, but ultimately the guesswork will be a method of the past.”

Nine runner-up submissions will each receive a $100 Visa Gift card and a MotoSKILL ASE Test Prep Training Bundle. Runner-up selections include:

  • Arianna Argersinger, Capital Area Career Center
  • Kira Benner, Lorain High School
  • Logan Crawford, Salt Lake Community College via Riverton High School Auto
  • Stephen Foley, Medford Vocational Technical High School
  • Carmen Nance, Arizona Western College
  • Jackie Niswonger, Vincennes University
  • Colter Porter, Hinckley, Minn.
  • Paul Schutz, Brick OCVTS
  • Colin Swanger, NASCAR Technology Institute

“We were thrilled to see students creatively interpret how advances in technology will influence the future of the automotive repair industry,” said Walter Scott, Vice President of e-Commerce and e-Services for Advance Auto Parts.
