AASA’s Brake Manufacturers Council And FMSI To Celebrate ‘Brake Weekend’ June 1-4

The Brake Weekend will include joint meetings of BMC and FMSI members, BMC members-only sessions and the Supplier Exhibition.

The Brake Manufacturers Council (BMC), a product council of AASA, and the Friction Materials Standards Institute (FMSI) are coming together in 2018 to celebrate the first-ever “Brake Weekend – The Gathering of Brake Experts,” set for Friday, June 1 through Monday, June 4 in Longboat Key, Fla. The event also will mark FMSI’s 70th anniversary.

“This can’t get much better – celebrating FMSI’s 70th year and our first annual Brake Weekend. The FMSI members meeting will have an outstanding panel of guest speakers focusing on trends in the OE brake industry. To celebrate our 70th year we’re planning a special tribute to various individuals,” said Frank Oliveto, FMSI chairman and vice president, sales and marketing, Util Group.

“I think we will look back on this in a few years as the dawn of something special in the brake industry,” commented Jack Carney, BMC chairman and president and CEO, FDP Brakes.

“We congratulate and look forward to celebrating FMSI’s 70 years of service to the brake industry, and also to celebrate the achievements within the brake industry as we come together to advance the business interests of our members at Brake Weekend,” said Bill Long, AASA president and chief operating officer.

The Brake Weekend will include joint meetings of BMC and FMSI members, BMC members-only sessions and the Supplier Exhibition. BMC Chairman Jack Carney present his “The State of the BMC” address in the Council meeting.

Activities planned for the weekend also include networking through golf outings and joint association dinners. The annual FMSI member meeting and banquet on Sunday, June 3, will be open to BMC members, except for a brief FMSI member-only session.
