EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Accuride Corp. – a  supplier of components to the North American commercial vehicle industry – has announced that two of its wheel production facilities have received the “Masters of Quality” Supplier Award from Daimler Trucks North America for their performances in 2014. Accuride’s Henderson steel wheel plant in Henderson, Ky., and the Accuride de Mexico steel and aluminum wheel plant in Monterrey, Mexico, both received the award. This is the 11th such award for the Henderson plant and the fourth award for Accuride de Mexico. Representatives of Accuride Henderson Operations will receive their award at DTNA’s Supplier Day in Indianapolis, on Sept. 29, while Accuride de Mexico received its award previously.

The annual program, now in its 28th year, recognizes outstanding suppliers that have received high scores on their quality, delivery, technology and cost performance as measured on a balanced scorecard. These suppliers demonstrate an on-going commitment to continuously improving the quality of their products and overall performance of their businesses.

“Accuride is honored by our plants’ continued performance as Masters of Quality facilities by Daimler Trucks North America for dedicated service to its assembly operations,” said Rick Dauch, Accuride president and CEO. “Our Henderson and Monterrey associates deeply appreciate Daimler’s recognition of their consistent performance on the metrics that matter to DTNA, and their efforts to help the company meet its business goals. Accuride’s dedication to delivering world-class operating performance on quality, delivery, lead times and other key metrics is supported by our consistent lean manufacturing and quality systems that drive continuous improvement across our operations.”

Accuride’s Henderson Operations provides steel wheels to all DTNA U.S. plants for Freightliner applications. The Accuride de Mexico steel and aluminum wheel facility in Monterrey supplies steel wheels to DTNA’s Saltillo and Santiago, Mexico, facilities, and the Daimler bus plant in Monterrey.

These plants’ recognition underscores Accuride’s extended relationship with DTNA as a dependable supplier of high-quality steel and aluminum wheels and wheel-end components. Accuride’s Rockford Gunite facility, a North American supplier of brake drums, hubs, rotors, automatic slack adjusters and other wheel-end components, also is a past Masters of Quality recipient. In addition, Accuride Henderson Operations earned the 2014 AME Excellence Award for its quality and lean systems from the Association for Manufacturing Excellence, while Accuride’s Erie and Rockford operations recently received the award for 2015.
