An OAD, or overrunning alternator decoupler, is becoming more and more common on vehicles, because alternators are being asked to do more than ever.
Whenever you recommend a new or remanufactured alternator to your customers, check to see if the vehicle was originally equipped with an OAD. If it was, you absolutely must recommend an OAD pulley as well – not a one-way clutch or a solid pulley. If you recommend the wrong pulley, you’ll be causing a service nightmare.
