SAN DIMAS, Calif. Westin Automotive has relocated its engineering research and development (R&D) facility in San Dimas, Calif. Encompassing 10,000 square feet, the R&D facility has a staff of 12 full-time employees comprised of engineers, technicians and CAD specialists.
The company says the core function of this department is to forward Westin’s continuing pursuit of new designs that will provide the "best-in-class" performance that has become synonymous with the Westin brand name, and also to promote Westin’s mission of industry leadership in product styling, quality and customer satisfaction.
Westin’s R&D facility is a primary cornerstone of the company’s operating model, according to the company. This model is strictly followed so that all products are conceived, designed, developed, tested and quality controlled in the United States. All aspects of the designs are additionally analyzed for functional integrity, maximum warranty life and ease of installation, the company says.
From digitizing a vehicle to creating designs in 3-D CAD, from stress analysis software to equipment to prototype hard part samples, Westin’s new facility employs the finest state-of-the-art equipment. All prototypes and production first article samples are test-fit on actual new vehicles in the R&D facility prior to production release, the company adds.
